What I Can Do For Jesus

-Awhile ago, inspired by a song at church, I wrote about What Jesus Has Done For Me. Now, again inspired by another song from church, I was thinking of all the things that I can do for Jesus. For years, I had it in my head that, because I can't serve in the church, I can't do anything for Jesus either. But, a few weeks ago, the Holy Spirit pointed out that  there is a difference between work for the church and work for Jesus. So here is a list of a few things that I can do for Jesus.

1. Believe-According to John 6:29, I think, the work of God is to  believe on "Him who He (God) has sent". Meaning Jesus. Everytime I read it,I think, "That is something I can do and have been doing for a long time".

2. Time-I can give Jesus lots of time. Because I don't have so many other commitments like most people do, I can spend more time with Jesus. Reading the Bible, praying, etc.

3. Worship-Sometimes at church, I feel bad because all I can do is sit there like a lump while others are clapping their hands, dancing and raising their hands to the Lord. I do try to sing but all that comes out are grunts. I am ok with that, though, as I know that God understands me even if people don't. But I know that it is important to praise and worship God and Jesus during the week and not just at church. There are times, both here and at church, that all I can do is praise through the tears. I know that Jesus deserves my praise no matter how I feel.

4. The Bible -Another thing that I can do for Jesus is read the Bible. It is important to Him and essential to us that we spend enough time reading the Bible to know what He has to say to us.

5. Obey-I can obey. Jesus is big on obedience, whether is to His commands in the Bible or the promptings of Holy Spirit. I would like say that I always obey but that would be stretching it. All I can say is that it is not too often that I DELIBERATELY disobey.

6. II Prayer/Communion with Jesus-I can pray. Maybe not out loud but I still can pray. I do take time to pray before I go to sleep but I also fellowship with Jesus all day. I have learned to talk to Him constantly in my mind which, I am sure, will stand me in good stead once I am busy again .

7. Nurses-I don't talk to the nurses too much about God for the simple reason that, before I was saved, if somebody kept talking about God, I avoided them. And I don't want the nurses to avoid me. Once in awhile, though, the conversation takes a turn which allows me to slip in a comment about God.

8. Inviting people to church-I can invite people to church but I have gotten slack in this area. A little because the van I travel on doesn't have enough room for anybody to come with me but, mostly because of all the people who have said that they would meet me at church but then not shown up. Lately, I have mostly just been asking when the Holy Spirit prompts me to and I don't dare disobey.

9. Blog-I know that I am writing this blog for Jesus and anything I say is because that it is what Jesus wants to say through me. I must admit that I felt I was exposing too much of myself by writing so much about me but I have done it anyway because I believe that is what He wants.

10. Giving Thanks-One of the biggest ways that I can do something for Jesus is by giving Him thanks for who He is and what He has done.
